Gardens of the Queen - Cuba

About the destination

A remote Caribbean reef system with room to breathe.

Typical journeyTypically 18–24 hours from the U.S. to the liveaboard

Jardines de la Reina—Gardens of the Queen—is a protected archipelago far off Cuba’s southern coast. There is little conventional topside tourism here; the experience is built around mangrove islands, open water, and a liveaboard or floating lodge.

Healthy coral gardens, steep walls, and mangrove edges support abundant Caribbean reef life. Caribbean reef sharks and silky sharks are signature encounters, alongside large grouper, tarpon, turtles, schools of snapper, and occasional crocodile excursions in the mangroves. Reaching the diving normally requires a flight to Cuba, a long scheduled road transfer to the southern coast, and several hours by boat. U.S. travelers should also confirm current Cuba entry and travel-authorization requirements before planning.
