About the destination
Typical journeyAbout 20–27 hours from the continental U.S.
Puerto Galera occupies a mountainous, deeply indented coast on northern Mindoro. Beaches, forested hills, waterfalls, and the lively waterfront around Sabang sit within a few hours of Manila by road and ferry.
Its position on the Verde Island Passage produces remarkable variety: coral gardens, walls, wrecks, current-swept pinnacles, and productive muck sites. Divers can encounter nudibranchs, seahorses, frogfish, mantis shrimp, octopus, turtles, reef fish, and large schools of jacks and fusiliers; trips toward Verde Island add strong current and dramatic wide-angle scenery. The range includes the flight to Manila, roughly two hours by road to Batangas, and the ferry and local transfer.
